According
to independent market research in the 2016-2017 Cruise Industry News Annual
Report, Silversea will continue as the number one luxury operator by capacity.
With eight ships, Silversea’s capacity remains relatively consistent
year-over-year, with the majority of it in the Mediterranean during the summer.
Adding a smaller ship and continuing to offer shorter sailings, Crystal Cruises’
capacity is up slightly in 2016, making the Los Angeles-based company the second
biggest luxury cruise line by estimated passenger capacity.
With the delivery of the new Regent Seven Seas Explorer, Regent will realize a
capacity gain for the year, making the now-four-ship cruise line the third
largest of the luxury operators in front of Seabourn, which gets its new ship
late in the year.
Regent’s capacity will surge by 40 percent in 2017 with full-year service from
the Explorer, which should put it neck-in-neck with Silversea for the number one
spot in the luxury market. |
