Group IST Adds Third Yacht for Cuba Cruises | ||||||||||||
Group IST, which offers a seven-night, sail-around people-to-people program in Cuba aboard its two Panorama sailing yachts, has cut prices on its shoulder and low-season departures and will add a third vessel for the November 2016-April 2017 season, according to CEO Michael Goren. (image left) The third vessel, the Variety Voyager motor yacht, can accommodate 71 passengers in 36 cabins and has a spa and multiple decks. The three-mast Panorama and the two-mast Panorama II each accommodate between 48 passengers and a crew of 14. (Image V.Voyager - Left) “Interest and demand for travel to Cuba are growing, but Cuba’s hotel infrastructure is limited and space is at a premium. We are one of the few players that can control inventory with our sailing yachts,” Goren said. Reduced rates on the Panorama departures in shoulder season (May, June, October and November) begin at $3,500 per person for a Category C cabin on the Panorama II, down from $4,598. Low season rates (July through September) start at $2,990 per person, down from $4,189. Prices do not include roundtrip charter air from Miami of $599 (commission is $50 for agents) or port charges of $395. The Panorama II offers year-round departures; the itinerary on both sailing yachts visits Havana, Maria La Gorda on the far western tip of Cuba, Cayo Largo, Trinidad and Cienfuegos and includes a full schedule of people-to-people encounters.
