Fincantieri’s Ancona floats out L’Austral

 
Thursday, 08 April 2010 - Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard today floated out L’Austral, the sister of Compagnie du Ponant’s near-completion Le Boreal. L’Austral is due to enter service in May 2011.

Le Boreal begins sailing early next month.

Present at today’s ceremony were Ponant director general Jean-Emmanuel Sauvee, deputy md Véronique Saade and, representing Fincantieri, Antonio Quintano, director of the Ancona yard.

The 10,700gt L’Austral is 142mtrs long and offers capacity for 264 passengers in 132 cabins and suites, all with ocean views. Ninety-four percent of the accommodations sport balconies.
