Tropicana Cruises Set to Start Cuba Service with Adriana |

Cruises is set to begin Cuba cruises with the ex-Adriana III from Plein Cap,
Cruise Industry News has learned. The company is registered in Belize and took
delivery of the ship on August 24, renaming it the Adriana.Tropicana is advertising seven-night/eight-day voyages on its website, homeporting out of Havana with calls around Cuba and in Ocho Rios, where there are plans to embark U.S. and Canadian passengers. Prices start at 785 euros per person. The itinerary includes calls in Cayo Saetia, Santiago de Cuba – which Cruise Industry News highlighted as a potential Cuban port if the country were to open up in the Spring 2010 edition of the Quarterly Magazine, along with: Ocho Rios, Trinidad, Hueva Gerona and of course, Havana. Tropicana plans to market the voyages in Russia and Europe, “that’s the niche, Cuba,” said the spokesperson. It was also unclear whether the ship meets SOLAS 2010 regulations although a statement posted on Tropicana’s website said: “Throughout a 5-day period the vessel, her safety equipment, machinery apparatus and ancillary gear were thoroughly tested by representatives of European classification societies, as well as insurance surveyors and Flag Administration representatives. “To everyone's delight the Adriana passed all assessments successfully , and relevant certificates were issued and presented to Tropicana Cruises. The ship is now fully compliant with all international regulations for the carriage of passengers, and we are very excited to receive our first guests!” |
