Regent Seven Seas Cancels Another Cruise

Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Seven Seas Voyager limps towards Marseille for repairs which will put her out of action for nearly all of October due to the propulsion malfunction that occurred.

The three-ship luxury line announced late Monday that it was canceling the Oct. 17 voyage of the 700-passenger ship due to the problem, which it says is connected to one of the ship's pod propulsion units.

The line already had canceled the Voyager's Oct. 3 sailing on Sunday after the problem arose.

"Regent Seven Seas Cruises regrets any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused for our valued guests' vacation plans and apologizes for any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused," the line says in a statement.

The line says affected passengers who still would like to sail can switch to one of nine other upcoming Regent sailings at the rate paid for the canceled cruises. Passengers who don't want to switch to another sailing will receive a full refund of their cruise fare along with a $1,000 per passenger Future Cruise Credit applicable to any 2010 or 2011 voyage.

The Voyager will head to Genoa, Italy on Wednesday for an assessment of the problem in dry dock and, eventually, repairs.

The ship's next scheduled voyage after the two that have been canceled is a 12-night trip from Athens to Barcelona beginning on Oct. 27.
