Cruise business up 12.5% at Barcelona

It was no surprise that the ever popular city of Barcelona has reported a record month for cruise passengers through the Port of Barcelona in August, with 321,724, a gain of nearly 15% on August 2009.

Cumulative totals for 2010 to August 31 stand at 1,506,550, up 12.5% on the same period last year. Of these, 831,000 were embarking/disembarking at the Spanish port, about 10% up on last year, while the other 675,000 were in transit, 16.1% growth. Vessel calls in the first eight months of 2010 totaled 534, an increase of 12.5%.
