Star Clippers Cruise To Include Monaco Grand Prix

Star Clippers is offering a seven-night sailing voyage round-trip from Cannes along the French Riviera to coincide with the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix. The four-masted, fully-crewed, 170-passenger tall ship, Star Flyer, will be anchored off Monte Carlo until midnight on Sunday, May 29, the day of the race, so guests can go ashore to watch the action and soak up the Grand Prix atmosphere.

The cruise departs Cannes on May 28. In addition to the day in Monaco, ports of call include L’Ile Rousse and Bastia in Corsica; the glamorous village of Portofino; Hyeres island; Sanary-sur-Mer; and St Tropez, with calls at the town and the beach.

This will be the second year running that the 170-passenger Star Flyer, one of the world’s largest and most luxurious tall ships, has been in Monaco for the Grand Prix. Passengers will be within easy reach by tender of all the action and the head-turning vessel will be one of the most beautiful ships on the scene with her graceful lines, four masts and teak decking.

Grand Prix fans wanting to enjoy the seven days of luxurious sailing can join the cruise for just £1,245 per person, based on two sharing, plus port taxes of £135 per person. Flights and Grand Prix tickets are extra. Book before January 31, 2011 and qualify for a 10% early booking discount.

Star Clippers operates three of the world’s largest and tallest sailing vessels. Visiting ports often untouched by larger cruise ships and offering passengers the activities, amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht, Star Clippers is recognized as one of the premier specialty cruise lines.

Passengers can enjoy the romance of sailing on board a true tall ship in a relaxed atmosphere with high standards of service provided by an attentive crew. All three ships have expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, a convivial Tropical Bar on deck and a comfortable piano bar and are large enough to offer first class accommodation and dining, but small enough to call into intimate ports, untouched by large cruise ships.

The two smaller ships, Star Flyer and Star Clipper, take 170 passengers each, with a crew of 70, while Royal Clipper carries 228 with a crew of 106.
