Dawn of a new Century |
The Dawn of
the New Century was the theme for the roll out of
Celebrities 55 Million Dollar refit of the ten year old
Century. The one night cruise to nowhere gave Celebrity
top Brass ample time to present and show case a huge
number of improvements coming to the ship.
The ship will have over 250 of the existing staterooms
will be converted to new balcony cabins during the
shipyard work The balconies are being added to the
exterior of the ship so the actual useable cabin space
will be larger. All cabins are having a total make over.
Look for Celebrity to be getting into the bedding game
as the Century gets all new premium bedding popular on
other premium brands. The two mock up cabins featured
contemporary colors and cabinet design along with the
now ever popular flat screen TVs. Last but not least all
bathrooms get a make over as well. Basically if you know
a Century cabin today you won’t when she leaves the
yard.
We where most impressed with how extensive the scope of
this refit will be. This will be a case of "Extreme Make
Over" - Ship Edition. Practically every public room gets
totally redone and not with just new carpeting and
fabrics, as is the norm. A totally new alternative fine
dining area will be added. The buffet area will also
receive a total remake with various food areas being cut
out of existing space. The spa and beauty salon areas
are expanded and up-graded. And of course the shops are
to be totally changed and up graded with the addition
of, "By appointment only", a fine jewelry store, which
is a new twist on a ship.
When the Century returns to south Florida in November
she will be doing a 5 / 4 / 5 night rotation over a 14
day period. This promises to be the newest, nicest
premium brand ship in the short cruise market in 07 and
for the foreseeable future. I would highly advise that
you give us a call and get the inside story on what she
has to offer your groups. |
